Must Visit the Rooftop in Kashgar for Sunset | With Guide

The scenery in Kashgar has a magical charm—
both exotic like the Western Regions and reminiscent of Morocco.
You must visit a rooftop to watch the sunset in Kashgar!
You’ll discover that
every rooftop offers a unique perspective of the view!

The view from the top floor of the Ancient City’s Hanging Gardens Museum is breathtaking,
giving a surreal feeling of being in the Middle East—truly awe-inspiring!

☑️ About Sunset:
In Kashgar, the sunset starts around 9:30 PM, with the sky gradually turning golden. It doesn’t get dark until 10 PM, shifting to a blue hue, so there’s no need to go too early.
☑️ About Photography:
In summer, the strongest sunlight in Xinjiang is from 2–5 PM, making photos prone to overexposure. After 6 PM, the light softens, and by 8 PM, it’s just perfect.
☑️ About Accommodation:
For those with high standards for lodging, consider hotels near the ancient city. My friend and I booked a night at the Hanging Gardens Hotel—spent the afternoon resting in the room to avoid the sun, then explored the ancient city after 5 PM, and returned in the evening for a relaxing bath to unwind from the journey.
☑️ About Routes:
Kashgar’s ancient city is vast—the west side is bustling, while the east is tranquil. Many unnamed alleys are incredibly picturesque. Don’t worry about getting lost; the locals are very friendly. Wandering through these alleys daily for walks and photos is an absolute delight.
