Taoye Ferry, also known as Nanpu Ferry, is located near the confluence of the Qinhuai River and the ancient Qingxi waterway. It stretches from the east of Gongyuan Street in the south to the west of Huaiqing Bridge on Jiankang Road in the north. It was a famous ferry crossing in ancient Nanjing for farewells by boat. Located at the confluence of Qingxi and Qinhuai Rivers, it is said to have been named after the great Eastern Jin Dynasty calligrapher Wang Xianzhi, who welcomed his concubine Taoye there.

In ancient times, the Qinhuai River was quite wide, and boats often capsized in stormy weather. To comfort his beloved concubine Taoye, Wang Xianzhi gave her a poem called "Peach Leaf Song": "Peach Leaf, Peach Leaf, Peach Leaf, you don't need an oar to cross the river, but crossing is effortless, I will come to greet you."

After Taoye learned this song, she was no longer afraid every time she crossed the river. To thank Wang Xianzhi for his deep affection, she wrote a poem in return: "Peach leaves reflect the red flowers, which are graceful even without wind. The spring flowers are reflected in them, and I am grateful that my love picked me alone." Since then, Taoye Ferry has become a love ferry in the minds of Nanjing people.
