⚫︎Roots: Said to have been founded in the first year of Emperor Jimmu's reign (660 BC),
it is Hitachi Province's Ichinomiya Shrine and a nationally designated historic site. One of the three Eastern shrines. The head shrine of all Kashima Shrines in Japan. The vivid vermilion tower gate is one of Japan's three great tower gates. The current shrine buildings were donated by Tokugawa Hidetada for the main shrine, Tokugawa Ieyasu for the inner shrine, and Tokugawa Yorifusa for the tower gate, all of which are important cultural properties. There are many sights to see, including the Mitarai Pond where purification rituals are performed.
