I spent two days and one night in Kawagoe. It's a lovely little town that feels like a step back in time to old Japan. It was a delightful stroll. I loved the atmosphere of the wooden houses and cobblestone streets, plus there were so many delicious foods to eat.
🩵Day 1
Morning: Take the train from Tokyo to Kawagoe for about an hour. Upon arrival, I left my luggage at my hotel.
Lunch: Eat at a chill, old-fashioned cafe with a wonderful atmosphere.
Afternoon: Stroll along the ancient Kurazukuri Street and see the old Kawagoe Bell Tower.
Evening: Stroll along Candy Alley and enjoy the local sweets.
Dinner: Stop at an izakaya in Sannomiya. Delicious food and a great atmosphere.
🩵Day 2
Morning: Visit Kita-in Temple, a beautiful and peaceful garden.
Noon: Eat dessert at Kawagoe Sweets Café.
Afternoon: Stroll around the beautiful Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine and visit the Kawagoe Festival Museum.
Evening: Return to Tokyo.
If you enjoy a traditional Japanese atmosphere, I highly recommend this place. It's a relaxed, unhurried walk, perfect for those looking to truly relax.
