#日本川越 Kawagoe City is located in the southwest of Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and used to belong to Iruma County. Currently, Kawagoe City is a central core city and a business core city. During the Edo period, the area was a prosperous castle town of the Kawagoe Domain and was known as "Little Edo".
There are many castle ruins, shrines, temples, historic sites, and historical buildings in the city. The number of cultural assets in the Kanto region is second only to Kamakura City in Kanagawa Prefecture and Nikko City in Tochigi Prefecture. It is recognized as a "historical city" by the country (the only one in Saitama Prefecture). As the city has not been destroyed by wars and earthquakes, it retains a lot of historical features and attracts many tourists every year.
