The "Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument," a tourist attraction located on the way to Kazbegi in northern Georgia.
This monument was built in 1983 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Georgia's rule as a Russian Empire, which was under Soviet rule. (The Soviet Union collapsed five years after its construction.)
This massive circular monument stands above a deep gorge known as the Devil's Valley.
The interior is decorated with vibrant mosaic tiles that tell the story of Russia and Georgia.
We visited in late April, but the surrounding area was still completely snow-covered.
Admission is free, but a parking fee is charged.
There's a paragliding agency at the entrance, and tourists are enjoying soaring above the snow-capped mountains.
📍Location: Gudauri Village, Ganisi, Georgia
💰Free admission, parking fee 2GELI (I think)
🕒Open 24 hours
🚗Access: Approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes by car from the capital, Tbilisi
