Keelung|Bisha Fishing Port—A half-day trip to enjoy the mountain bay, sea of clouds, and seafood 🐟⛵️

#September2025

At Bisha Fishing Port, you can experience both "harbor-level scenery" and "market-level freshness"—in the morning, watch the cloud wall press against the mountains, the white pier poles stand quietly; at noon, pick the day's catch at the tourist fish market; and in the afternoon, take a boat out to see Keelung Island or cruise along the Fanzai'ao coastline. A dozen photos will fill the Northeast Coast.

• Name | Bisha Fishing Harbor
• Location | Badouzi, on the border of Ruifang and Keelung in New Taipei City, along the Beining Road coastline in Zhongzheng District
• Transportation | Drive along Beibin Highway or take a bus from Keelung Train Station to the "Bisha Fishing Harbor" stop
• Price | Numerous fish market stalls; prices are based on weight and on-site announcements. Boat tickets are required for scenic outings, visiting Jilong Island, or fishing (seasonal and weather-dependent).
• Recommended Time | 2.5–5 hours (strolling the pier, enjoying seafood, and then heading out to the sea or visiting the Marine Science Museum or Chaojing Park)

Background | From a safe haven to a tourist hub for enjoying the sea

Bisha was originally an important safe haven and fishing port in the Badouzi area. With the renovation of the tourist fish market, the reopening of Badouzi Station, and the opening of the National Marine Science Museum, the fishing port's daily life and the tourist experience are gradually becoming intertwined: during the day, you can watch fishing boats coming and going; in the afternoon, you can enjoy the bustle of the market and freshly cooked seafood; and at dusk, you can chase the light to Chaojing Park to see the sea erosion platform. The fishing port isn't deliberately glamorous, but it has a sense of life that makes you want to return.

How I experienced this trip (take a look at my photos)

① Opening with Cloud Shadows on the Mountain Bay
On one side of the pier lies a thick green mountain ridge, on the other, a water surface sculpted by the northeast monsoon. The clouds piled up like cotton on the mountains, and the sky changed rapidly—a dramatic scene at a glance.

② The Yellow and Black Striped Pier Head
The yellow pier head with black anti-collision stripes is a perfect foreground prop. Placing it in the corner of the frame adds depth to the water's texture, instantly adding a story to the photo.

③ The Inner Harbor, a Sea of Boats
White masts and ropes line the harbor, alongside ice carts and foam boxes carrying supplies. This is my favorite moment: quiet, yet full of energy.

④ Turning to the Fish Market
The tourist fish market in the middle of the harbor is bustling with activity. Sashimi, grilled squid, clam soup, freshly caught three-spot crabs... Pick a stall with a clean counter and clearly marked prices, then take your time to eat in the public seating area.

⑤ Looking out to Keelung Island from the sea
On a clear day, after leaving the harbor, you can see Keelung Island like a sleeping green turtle. The V-shaped waves drawn by the boats' sterns and the overlapping shadows of the distant mountains are my reasons to come again and again.

What to Eat? Food Review + Address

Bisha Fishing Port Tourist Fish Market
Address: No. 211, Beining Road, Zhongzheng District, Keelung City
My Order:
• Freshly Cut Mixed Sashimi: Perfectly balanced in fat and sweetness, with consistent thickness and a smooth texture. • Grilled Shredded Clams: Caught perfectly cooked, slightly charred on the outside and springy on the inside.
• Clam Soup: A refreshing and sweet finish, perfect with the sea breeze.
Recommendations: Choose a stall that displays the fish of the day and has a clean cutlery table. Prices are transparent and the food is served promptly. If you're hesitant to eat raw, there are plenty of grilled and fried options, and you can satisfy yourself for NT$200–400 per person (actual weight is determined by on-site weighing).

Why I Recommend Bisha (8 Reasons)
1. Highly Convenient Scenery: Mountains, sea, clouds, and boats all captured in one photo.
2. Fresh Seafood: The market is fast-paced, with freshly caught seafood.
3. Super Close to Attractions: The National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, Chaojing Park, and Wangyou Valley are all within walking or short drive.
4. Convenient Access to the Sea: Enjoy the scenery, climb Jilong Island, or go fishing. The itinerary is more flexible than you might think.
5. Family-friendly: The pier is flat, with plenty of informational signs, allowing children to learn about the ocean.
6. Great for photography: The crash bollards, ropes, and white masts are all great framing tools.
7. Multiple transportation options: Accessible by bus, easy parking for your own car, and conveniently connected to Jiufen's Jinguashi.
8. Fun all year round: Enjoy the sea of clouds in summer, the crisp air in autumn and winter, and the vibrant greenery of spring.

Photography Cheat Sheet (Capture photos with your phone) 📸
• Wide Harbor Views: Keep the horizon in the lower 1/3, leaving the other 2/3 for clouds; use an EV of -0.3 for more depth.
• Foreground Direction: Place a yellow bollard in the corner of the frame as an anchor, drawing your gaze out to sea.
• Whitecaps behind a ship: Continuously capture the crests, using a shutter speed of 1/1000 or higher; don't open the aperture too wide. • Portraits: Stand about a third of the way along the railing, facing the sea with your face turned to the side. This creates a clean, Hong Kong-inspired photo.

Practical Tips & Pitfalls
• Seafood is weighed on site: Ask first if the list price, weight sheet, and cooking fee are separate.
• Wind and Sun Protection: The northeastern sea breeze is strong and reflective, so be prepared with a hat, sunscreen, jacket, and water.
• Seaside Tips: Wear a life jacket and tether your phone or camera. Those prone to seasickness should take medication 30 minutes in advance.
• Keep litter out in the ocean: The sea breeze is strong, so be sure to put away paper bags and toothpicks after eating.
• Parking: Traffic can be heavy on weekends, so it's recommended to arrive early or enter the market after dinner for a more comfortable flow.

Suggested Route (Copy Directly)

Half-Day Easy: Stroll at Bisha Pier → Sightseeing and Lunch at the Fish Market → Admire the Sea Erosion Platform at Chaojing Park → Permanent Exhibition at the Marine Science and Technology Museum
Full-Day Plan: Morning: Bisha Fishing Port to See Elephant Trunk Rock/Keelung Island → Afternoon: Marine Science and Technology Museum and Chaojing Park → Dusk: Visit Zhengbin Colorful House/Heping Island Park → Evening: Return to Miaokou Night Market

Conclusion (Key Points)

Bisha Fishing Port is more than just about eating seafood. It's a daily platform where you can see, learn about, and enjoy the ocean. The tranquility of the pier, the bustle of the fish market, and the salty breeze from the boats combine to create the most captivating scene in the Northeast Coast. Next time you want to swap the hustle and bustle of the city for the rhythm of the sea, spend half a day at Bisha—come with an appetite and a camera, and leave with a salty taste and a smile. **😋📷
