The Xinxiang Sports Center, built in 1996 with a 150 million yuan investment from the Xinxiang Municipal Government, is a public welfare institution integrating sports, fitness, entertainment, leisure, sightseeing, and shopping. It is not only one of the few large-scale, first-class sports venues in Henan Province capable of hosting a variety of domestic and international events, but also the largest and most comprehensive national fitness center in Xinxiang's history. It is also home to the Xinxiang Electronics Market. The Sports Center covers 124,300 square meters (183 mu) and has a total construction area of 34,000 square meters. Key facilities include a modern, international-standard gymnasium, a 200-meter track and field training field, open-air basketball, tennis, and badminton courts, a 12,000-square-meter commercial podium, and 36,000 square meters of flower beds and lawns.
The stadium covers 32,240 square meters, measuring 218 meters from north to south and 176 meters from east to west. It features 16 differently colored stands and can accommodate 31,308 spectators. Inside, there's a rostrum, torch stand, and a large electronic display screen. The inner field features a standard 400-meter plastic track, with a central green football field. Equipped with state-of-the-art lighting, communications, sound reinforcement, electronic timing, and various track and field facilities, it can host high-level football matches and national track and field competitions. The 8th Henan Provincial Games were held here in September 1996. The 1998 National Track and Field Championships were also held here in June 1998.
