Khiva Moon at noon and Terrassa in the evening, two restaurants in Khiva

This time in Khiva, I tried two of the top-rated restaurants:
Khiva Moon and Terrassa Cafe & Restaurant.
Both are quite unique and worth sharing.

🌙Khiva Moon
Khiva Moon is a bit away from the west gate of Itchan Kala, but it has a spacious courtyard. The seating in the courtyard is perfect for basking in the afternoon sun. There are ducks, sheep, and cats in the courtyard, making it a comfortable place to relax.

Recommended Dishes:
Definitely! Definitely! Order the eggplant salad! It's a very Chinese flavor! It'll make you want to be transported back to China! The green noodles with dill are their signature and very chewy. The kebab and other snacks are also good.

Cons:
The service can be a bit slow, and the wait from ordering to serving can be quite long.

🌅Terrassa Cafe & Restaurant
Located in the heart of Itchan Kala, their terrace and rooftop offer panoramic views of the old city. The atmosphere is especially beautiful at sunset, when the sunset paints the old city a vibrant red.

Recommended Dishes:
The green noodles are also their signature dish, but we didn't order them this time. The shashlik and grilled eggplant dip are classics. The cheapest fried rice is very similar to Yangzhou fried rice and is also worth ordering. For dessert, try the honey cake.

Recommendations & Cons:
The terrace is very popular, so it's best to book a day in advance. It gets crowded in the evening and can be a bit noisy.

✅ Which one do I prefer & Recommended Time of Day?
I actually like both restaurants, but if I had to choose one, it would be Khiva Moon. I absolutely love the atmosphere. In the afternoon, I can bask in the sun on the patio, sip tea on a couch, watch the sunlight filter through the branches onto the food, listen to the dombra music playing, and the cats come over to play. It's all so relaxing.

In short, both have their own strengths. Terrassa's advantage is the view and atmosphere, while Khiva Moon's is more relaxed, has a courtyard feel, and offers a good value. If time permits, visiting both is perfect for experiencing the atmosphere at different times.
