Wakamatsu, Fukuoka. Mitsukake shaved ice for 250 yen. 7 takoyaki for 200 yen. "Toraya" with reasonable prices and a nostalgic feel.

Toraya is a nostalgic street corner snack bar (or maybe I should call it a snack shop?).

While strolling around Wakamatsu, Kitakyushu,
I came across a menu sign and a soft-serve ice cream symbol.
I was surprised when I looked at the menu outside the store.

Because these days,
Mitsukake shaved ice for 250 yen
Takoyaki (7 pieces) for 200 yen
Soft-serve ice cream for 200 yen
Isn't that right?

It seemed like the store was about to close, so I bought the red and white kaiten-yaki Mohei Manju they had in stock.

These Mohei Manju have a unique white bean paste, and while I can't really explain it,
it's a color and flavor you don't see very often.
They were heavy, filling, and delicious.

Wakamatsu, Kitakyushu.
I'm envious that there's still a shop like this in the neighborhood!
I'm sure the local children will remember this shop forever.

The staff were very kind and charming, creating a lovely atmosphere.

I love restaurants with this kind of atmosphere, so it's a shame we didn't have time.

I'd like to come back and try more of their menu items.
