A special space combining art and biology – atoa

"atoa", which just opened in October 2021, is a new popular attraction in Kansai that combines an aquarium and an art museum.

7-2 Shinko-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture
"Sannomiya Station" is about an 18-minute walk
Adults 2,400 yen/Children 1,400 yen

"atoa" is divided into seven exhibition areas, and each area has a signature water tank representing its theme, allowing visitors to have a variety of experiences, some of which are more participatory, which can bring different experience value from ordinary aquariums or art galleries.

The most worthwhile ones must be the largest spherical aquarium in Japan (AQUA TERRA) in the "Planet" area and the "Miyabi" area full of Japanese style and constantly changing lighting effects. The former creates a dreamy effect with 360-degree lighting and music at regular intervals, with a spherical aquarium in the center; the latter makes visitors feel like they are walking on the water, and uses the changing lighting themes of the four seasons to make people feel the aesthetics of "wabi-sabi".
