- Wat Phu Khao Noi was established in 1889 by Luang Pho Phet Wachiro or Phra Khru Wibun Thammasar, the former abbot of Koh Samui District. At that time, Koh Phangan was a sub-district of Koh Samui District. Therefore, he ruled both Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. Luang Pho Phet was originally from Koh Phangan. There is evidence of Luang Pho Phet's footprints in many places in the temple.
- Important ancient sites include the main pagoda and the surrounding pagodas on the hilltop. They are located on a low hill that has been filled and leveled into a rectangular yard. The pagoda has a high-rise chedi with a 3-tiered base. The base has been extended. There are 6 large pagodas and 4 small pagodas.
