A Trekking Trip to Kinabalu National Park

This is a trip to Borneo Island in Malaysia. The nearest airport is Kota Kinabalu Airport. I obtained an international driving permit (which can be easily obtained at the Land Transport Bureau for 3800 yen and a photo taken within the last three months. Photos can also be taken at the bureau for a fee) and went on the trip. If you are comfortable with travel English, you can rent a car and make a same-day reservation at the local airport. Of course, you can also make a reservation online in advance. If you are worried about traveling, it is recommended to get full insurance, which is not very expensive.

It takes about 2.5 hours from the airport to reach Mount Kinabalu. We stayed at a hotel at the foot of Mount Kinabalu and trekked to the longest waterfall on Mount Kinabalu the next day, which is a 5-hour round trip. The route was a bit hot at times, but it is walkable even for a 15-year-old high school student. The hotel also has the famous Poring Hot Springs, where you can relax your tired body before heading back.
