Tianmu Lake is located eight kilometers south of Liyang City, on Yingbin Avenue. It is home to two large national-level reservoirs, Daxi and Shahe. It is named "Tianmu Lake" because it is located on the outskirts of Tianmu Mountain. Although the lake is not large in area, it is known for its beautiful scenery.
Tianmu Lake, surrounded by mountains and boasting clear waters, is punctuated by chessboard-like farmlands and scattered tea plantations, creating a scene of pure, natural rural scenery. The winding lakeshore creates a harmonious blend of natural beauty and artificial embellishment. Within the scenic area, mountains, water, forests, animals, and birds coexist and thrive, creating a unique natural ecological landscape.
There's no need to search for iconic sights here; simply stroll, cycle around the lake, or take a boat tour. The thrilling zipline experience will also leave you with a lasting impression, zipping between two islands and overlooking Tianmu Lake from above. After your lake cruise, don't forget the most important part—tasting the delicious fish head soup and fish head pancakes.
Spring and summer are the best seasons to visit Liyang. The annual Tianmu Lake Tourism Festival and the biennial China Liyang Tea Festival coincide, and April is the busiest time of year for Liyang. In the scorching summer heat, visiting Tianmu Lake for the Water Splashing Festival or escaping the heat in the 10,000-acre Nanshan Bamboo Sea bamboo garden, where you can enjoy water activities and admire the bamboo, are also perfect.
