Kota Kinabalu's famous North Borneo Steam Locomotive Tour and Tiffin Lunch Box

2018.09 #Kota Kinabalu ( #kotakinabalu ) Travel

While preparing for my trip to Kota Kinabalu, I found a rather unique tour product. It was the #NorthBorneoSteamLocomotiveTour!! I couldn't help but book it right away because it was so attractive to ride a steam locomotive that burns wood to move through the jungles of Sabah, see small cities, and even eat #tiffin lunch boxes on the train.

On the day of the trip, I went to Tanjung Aru Station to exchange tickets and start the tour. I was even more excited when I saw the front locomotive trying to maximize its output by putting wood into the furnace before departure. The interior of the passenger car that I entered was decorated in a way that really showed what classic beauty was. Of course, it was a shame that there was a fan instead of air conditioning.

Anyway, it was a round trip course that started from Tanjung Aru Station, stopped at Kinnarut Station in the middle, arrived at the final destination, Papar Station, and followed this route. It was fun to experience the local market, buy simple snacks, and briefly get a glimpse into the lives of the locals.

But the most important thing was the tiffin lunch box on the way back. I opened the tiffin lunch box that looked like an old 4-tier lunch box made of stainless steel and had lunch. It tasted good, and I felt great because it seemed like Malaysian sentiment was exploding.

Well... It was a bit boring in the latter half because I had to ride a slow train without air conditioning for more than 4 hours round trip, but it was also a disadvantage that I had to devote about 3/4 of my day's schedule, but it was definitely worth riding it at least once.
