Kota Kinabalu is truly a seafood lover’s paradise — offering an amazing variety of fresh seafood at affordable prices! During my family trip, my relatives brought us to savor some of the best local seafood spots in town. Here are our top favourites:

⏩ Ikan Bakar Sabah
One of the best places for grilled fish in Kota Kinabalu! The restaurant features a spacious and cozy atmosphere, perfect for family dining. Their signature marinated grilled fish is packed with flavour — the homemade sambal chili paste enhances the freshness and tenderness of the fish, creating a rich and satisfying taste.

We absolutely loved their Sambal Grilled Fish, Marmite Crab, Kangkung Tumis Belacan, and Grilled Prawns with Sambal — all bursting with fresh and bold flavours. Every dish was cooked to perfection, served hot, and full of authentic local taste.

⏩ KK Garden Seafood Restaurant @ Sedco
Located right in the town area, this popular restaurant is known for its spacious dining hall with both open-air and air-conditioned seating options — great for both locals and tourists.

They serve a wide range of Halal Chinese-style seafood dishes. We ordered their Sashimi Oysters, Sweet & Sour Flower Crab, Nyonya Steamed Grouper, Stir-fried Kangkong with Garlic, and Salted Egg Prawns. Every dish was fresh, flavourful, and cooked with perfect balance — from the tangy sweetness of the crab to the creamy richness of the salted egg prawns. The service was excellent, with friendly staff, quick serving time, and generous portions. Prices were reasonable and value-for-money.

A highlight here — every evening around 7pm, there’s a local cultural performance featuring traditional costumes and lively music, adding a fun and vibrant touch to the dining experience!
