Kotohira is a really small city, so if you want to go to a busy place, you have to come to the area around KotohiraGuesthouse.
Kotohira is one of the 100 most sacred pilgrimage sites in Japan, so there are a lot of tourists and pilgrims, not just Japanese people.
The view from KonpiraGuesthouse after climbing the 785 steps was even more beautiful.
There were long nameplates next to the flat ground that appeared in the middle of the stairs. They are said to be the names of people who supported or helped when KonpiraGuesthouse was built.
There was a really long line while climbing the stairs. The moss made it feel like something out of Spirited Away.
