Along with Okunoin, this "Danjo Garan" is considered to be one of the two major sacred places of Mt. Koya.

It is the first esoteric Buddhist temple that Kobo Daishi started and built for the main training center of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, and is said to represent the world of the "Taizō Mandala."

The "Danjo" in Danjo Garan means the world of Buddha, and the "Garan" means the place where the various halls are gathered.

The altitude is high, so we recommend that you do not forget to bring cold weather gear. Also, it is a good idea to wear sneakers that are easy to walk in.
