[The birthplace of Malaysia] Kuala Lumpur's Merdeka Square is a must-see

Access: 3-minute walk from Masjid Jamek Station
Tourist Spot: Merdeka Square
Address: Jln Raja, City Centre, 50050 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

About 3 minutes from Masjid Jamek Station, you will come to the confluence of the Gombak and Klang Rivers. This is also known as the River of Life and is said to be the birthplace of Kuala Lumpur.
Right next to it is Merdeka Square, where Malaysia's nation was declared.
Many people relax in the square, where the Malaysian flag flies and the beautiful fountain stands.

Directly across the street is the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, built as the British colonial government headquarters. Its beautiful 19th-century colonial style is well worth a visit.
