Malaysia 9-Day Travel Diary

🕐️Day 1: Arrive in Kuala Lumpur. Stay at a hotel near the Petronas Twin Towers, explore the surrounding area in the afternoon.
🕐️Days 2-3: Visit various venues and streets. (It would be best to spend another day in Malacca; we planned for it, but the family didn’t want to go, so we skipped it.)
🕐️Day 4: Depart from Kuala Lumpur in the morning and fly to Kota Bharu. Pre-book hotel airport transfer service, then take a car followed by a boat to reach Perhentian Island.
🕐️Days 5-9: Stayed 5 nights on Little Perhentian Island. Snorkeled daily on the hotel beach, seeing various fish. The pool water temperature was especially pleasant, making swimming super comfortable. Adults could enjoy fitness, yoga, and spa; kids had their own play area, and teenagers could play computer games. Being timid and lazy, I didn’t join island-hopping tours or similar activities, but just relaxing at the hotel was far from boring.
🕐️Day 10: Depart from the hotel in the morning, take a boat then a car to Kuala Lumpur airport, and return home.

⛱️Must-visit spots: Kuala Lumpur Petronas Twin Towers, mosques, museums, art galleries, Perhentian Island hotel pool, beach, and the external long beach.
🏨Accommodation recommendations: InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, Marriott Perhentian Island Resort
💰Overall cost: 18,000 RMB (3 people)
Airfare 7,200 + 1,300
Hotels 2,700 + 5,200
Daily expenses 3,600
💡Other tips:
1. For islands, definitely use high SPF waterproof sunscreen; UV rays are stronger than in Hainan and Thailand.
2. There are many Indian restaurants; if you care about taste and hygiene, choose high-end restaurants. For a full meal, you can also go to FamilyMart or 7-Eleven.
3. Register in advance on the official website for smooth immigration; no worries at all.
4. Confirm the hotel’s public boat schedule to the island in advance and try to choose flights accordingly; otherwise, the small boat ride can be a bit thrilling, and I didn’t dare to take photos.
5. Exchange Malaysian Ringgit in advance, preferably at Bank of China or Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. 500 MYR per person is enough. Some shops accept Alipay, UnionPay, or Visa. Overall expenses are higher than Thailand but lower than Hainan, worth a second visit.
6. Kuala Lumpur airport duty-free shops are small; half an hour is enough to browse. Dior discounts are average, CHANEL popular items are out of stock, SK-II is not cost-effective, overall less discount than Hainan’s duty-free shops.
