Better matcha than many places in Japan

#cityplaybook

Niko Neko Matcha in Chinatown is a haven for matcha purists, where the focus is unmistakably on quality and precision. The space itself is quiet and pared-down, almost like a minimalist tea lab, which lets the matcha take center stage.

I usually order one of their signature matcha, either REN or other single cultivator, each having their strength while having the quality absolutely guaranteed. Occasionally I’d do Mokuren (genmaicha) too, which is intense and packed with genmai flavors.

To go with it, I tried their burnt cheesecake, which was dense, creamy, and just barely caramelized on top. The bittersweet depth of the matcha paired beautifully with the richness of the cheesecake, creating a simple but refined balance.

There’s usually 90min dining time limit. It’s not the kind of place for frills, but if you care about craftsmanship in flavor, this spot hits the mark.
