Sweet Comforts of Tradition at Zhao Ji Desserts, Pavilion Damansara Heights

Zhao Ji Desserts brings classic Cantonese flavors into a modern café setting, and our visit proved to be a nostalgic yet satisfying journey through traditional sweet treats.

I tried three of their signature offerings:
• Black Sesame Paste – Thick, smooth, and deeply nutty. It had just the right level of sweetness and a velvety texture that warms the soul. A comforting bowl best enjoyed slowly.
• Red Bean Soup – Hearty and familiar, this bowl delivered well-cooked red beans in a slightly sweet broth. While not the most complex dessert, it stayed true to its humble roots.
• Mango Pomelo Sago – The most refreshing of the three. A chilled, tropical blend of mango purée, chewy sago pearls, and bits of pomelo that added a subtle citrusy zing. Light, vibrant, and a great contrast to the heavier hot desserts.

The space was clean and casual, with a pleasant atmosphere for sitting down with friends or family. The menu is impressively extensive for a dessert shop, offering a wide variety of hot and cold options, both traditional and contemporary.
