Lower Ground @ Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

A detour from the hustle and bustle of traffic in Kuala Lumpur's busiest shopping intersection which is Bukit Bintang, a walk in Starhill Gallery is great for immersing oneself in a luxurious atmosphere. It is decorated lavishly, with olive green drapes covering the walls and faux volumes stacked tastefully here and there, with unlit block wax candles, and mini statuettes for a modern Grecian feel. Quaint carts carrying scones and other baked goods, as well as coffee from Café Marais and Opera, with fake perennials interlaced give the whole look a fairytale touch. In the center, there is a wide open seating space with a screen tower playing scenes of lush tropical plants, and its surface festooned with moss, add a natural, organic layer to the whole floor. There is always room for fusion of worlds, and the meanings they have in this part of Kuala Lumpur, where standards of aesthetics are high, and Starhill Gallery is a good example of such an elegant and pleasing combination.
