📍 Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, Kuala Lumpur
🕌 We visited the Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque on a sunny afternoon and it was a truly beautiful experience. Built in 1909, the mosque sits at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers, the same spot where Kuala Lumpur was originally founded in the 1850s. In its early days, it served as the center of a thriving community, making it not only a place of worship but also a significant landmark representing the city's origins. It is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur and served as the main place of prayer until the National Mosque was built. The mosque's architecture is breathtaking, a beautiful blend of Moorish, Mughal, and Indo-Saracenic styles, with ornate domes, arches, and minarets that whisper stories from over a century ago. We spent about 30 minutes there, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere, making it a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Even the children enjoyed exploring and asking questions about the city's history. The staff were very welcoming and hospitable, making our visit even more memorable. It's a special place with a sense of history and heart. Another important thing is to dress modestly. However, if necessary, the hotel provides robes and head coverings.
