Freedom Square, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, is where Malaysia declared independence from Britain in 1957.
Even now, a 95-meter-tall national flag flutters,
surrounded by expansive lawns and quaint buildings,
it exudes a unique atmosphere even in the heart of the city.
Across the square, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building is a striking Moorish structure, built in the late 19th century during the British colonial period, with red bricks, a white dome, and arched corridors.
It is currently occupied by some government ministries, so interior viewing is restricted,
but the exterior is open to the public.
The building is particularly beautiful around sunset and at night, rather than during the day.
Freedom Square and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, where Kuala Lumpur's past and present coexist, are must-see destinations during any city tour.
