Kuching is the name of the city , in Malay it’s translate to “Cat” therefore most people named this city as a Cat City.
You can also find the cat statues in the city center:

Kuching waterfront spread across 900 meter long along the southern bank of Sarawak River , is the most iconic place in Kuching.

strolling around the riverfront is really amazing by it’s night view . you could also have a boat ride across the river . and seeing the iconic Kuching landmark of Kuching in Waterfront the Dewan Undangan.
