Fort Margherita - Kuching, Malaysia

Fort Margherita is an old fort in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. It is interesting both for its unique history and architecture. In addition, today it houses the Brook Gallery, the exposition of which is dedicated to the reign of the dynasty of the same name.

It is built in the form of an English castle. It stands on a hill and rises above the surroundings; it overlooks the Sarawak River. The fort, surrounded by a mighty wall, consists of a tower and a courtyard.

Getting to the fort from Kuching city is very simple: you can rent a boat on the shore, and you can walk from the pier to the fort itself in 15 minutes.

Opening hours: weekdays from 9:00 to 16:45, weekends from 10:00 to 16:00.
