Kumamoto｜Sakura-no-Babajo Saien, where the prosperity of the castle town is restored

After visiting Kumamoto Castle, you don't have to rush to leave. There is a place to eat and stroll next to it. #樱之马场城彩苑 It consists of more than 20 shops, recreating the prosperous scene of the "castle town". You can find old-fashioned shops here to buy Kumamoto classic food, and of course there are souvenirs.

For lunch, I chose "Yamami Chaya", which has horse meat grilled on lava stone slabs. Aka Gyudon (JPY 1900) If you don't eat horse meat, you can order a red beef rice bowl.

Each piece of beef is very tender and juicy, and the taste is more fragrant after being grilled.
It is also served with a hot spring egg, which is eaten with rice mixed with egg liquid and sauce, and it is eaten up quickly. In addition, the soup here is different from the usual miso soup. It will be Kumamoto's traditional cuisine "Noodle Soup".
There will be noodles in the soup, plus seasonal vegetables and meat cooked together.

Kumamoto-style lava grilled meal (JPY 2980) If you want to eat horse meat, you must order this signature dish. There are 2 small bowls, pickles, pickles, fried tofu and noodle soup, which is very rich. The horse meat and beef are grilled on the hot lava stone plate. The meat is very soft and sweet. It is just right to eat with white rice. If you don’t dare to eat horse meat sashimi, you can try this.

Before leaving, I bought a horse meat croquette (JPY 300) at "Suganoya"
It’s quite crispy, but seriously, if you don’t tell me that it’s horse meat filling, you can’t taste it at all. This store also has horse meat minced meat sushi and horse meat curry bread.
