Watching gulls at Dianchi Lake in Kunming

1️⃣The seagulls in Dianchi Lake are mainly red-billed gulls, which are migratory birds. They migrate from Siberia, Mongolia and northern China every winter (late October to early November). From mid-to-late March to early April of the following year, as the temperature rises, the red-headed gulls will fly north to return to their breeding grounds. The number of seagulls starts to decrease around March, but some can stay until April.
2️⃣Best gull watching location
① Haigeng Dam: the most popular gull-watching spot along the Dianchi Lake, with a wide view and dense seagulls
②Haigeng Park: connected to Haigeng Dam
③Haihong Wetland Park: Watch the beautiful sunset
[Rainbow] It is best to watch seagulls between 9:00-11:00 in the morning or 15:00-17:00 in the afternoon. Seagulls are more active and the light is soft. If you put seagull food in your hand, seagulls will come over and you can easily get a photo with them.
