Generally, Western Hill / Dragon Gate is open from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
How to Get There
- Take the cable car or cableway from the bottom to the Western Hills / Dragon Gate area. - Walk or use a bus/trolley within the mountain area. - In Kunming, you can take several buses or taxis to Western Hills and then continue up the mountain.
Entrance Fee
The entrance fee for Western Hill and Longmen is approximately 30 yuan (this is subject to change). The cable car up the mountain costs an additional fee.
Tips
- Starting early is best for fresh air and fewer crowds. - Wear comfortable walking shoes as the paths are rocky and steep in some areas. - Bring a camera/phone to capture the view of Dianchi Lake. - Check the weather conditions – on foggy days, the view may be obscured. - Research the itinerary for Western Hill and Longmen to avoid the arduous trek back.
