Last October, the Opera Hundred Plays Museum opened in the birthplace of Kunqu, featuring an architectural design inspired by the 'Gongche notation' (its appearance is somewhat similar to the Wu Culture Museum, possibly both crafted by Gold Mantis), making it the first museum in China to gather all 348 Chinese opera genres.
🌟 It houses four major exhibition halls
General History Hall - History of Chinese Opera: Divided into four sections: 'A Long and Distinguished History - The Gestation and Formation of Opera,' 'A Sudden Peak - Southern Opera and Yuan Zaju,' 'Competing in Splendor - The Rise of Regional Operas and Opera Reform,' and 'Continuing Glory - The Development of New China's Opera.'
Thematic Hall - Panorama of Chinese Opera Genres
Multimedia Hall - Creating an Immersive Theater: Consisting of five chapters: 'The Curtain Unfurls - Stage Art and Theater of Opera,' 'Elegance of Makeup - Character Styling on the Opera Stage,' 'Graceful as Startled Swans - Stylized Movements in Opera,' 'The Scent of Ink - The Literary Beauty of Opera Art,' and 'Melodic Splendor - The Musical Rhythm of Opera Art.'
Exploration and Experience Hall - The Charm of the Miniature Pear Garden
🌟 Currently, there are two major temporary exhibitions
The Essence of Form - Qing Dynasty Court Drama Exhibition (extended until May 5, 2024)
Unrivaled in Spring - The Youth Version of 'The Peony Pavilion' Twenty Years Theme Exhibition (on display until June 10, 2024)
🌟 Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:30 - 17:30 (entry stops at 16:30)
🌟 Address: No. 2 Bindi Lian Road, Bacheng Town, Kunshan City
❗️The photography is indeed beautiful; the content presented is too much and superficial; there still seems to be a smell of renovation inside the museum; the coffee shop at the exit has a nice environment.
The adjacent Zhengyi Old Street is also worth visiting, with the recommended Rose Rice Wine Cake.
