Kurashiki Ivy Square is a tourist spot with a unique atmosphere, featuring red brick buildings and green ivy.
This complex, renovated from a former Meiji-era spinning mill, is recommended as a stop-off point while touring the Bikan Historical Quarter.
The grounds are dotted with hotels, art museums, workshops, and shops, allowing you to experience art and history while leisurely strolling.
Take a break at the cafe between sightseeing, or browse for limited-edition goods at the unique "Japanese-style Lawson."
There are plenty of photo opportunities, and the retro architecture is a delight. With its spires, ivy walls, and colorful street piano, it's sure to look great on social media.
I went in the morning, but if you have time for an overnight trip, I recommend visiting the illuminated area at dusk for a truly atmospheric experience.
If you're visiting the Bikan Historical Quarter, be sure to add Ivy Square to your itinerary.
I also recommend visiting during the season when the ivy leaves turn red in autumn. 🍁
