Okayama, Japan - The stunning sunset over the Seto Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea

Okayama is known as the "Land of Sunshine". The famous legend "Momotaro" also originated in Okayama. I have always wanted to come here. This one-day trip to Okayama mainly included visiting Okayama Castle (only admiring it from the outside, not visiting inside) and taking the "Shimoden Bus" at Kojima Station to the Washuzan Second Observatory to enjoy the sunset over the Seto Ohashi Bridge and the Seto Inland Sea.

As soon as you get off the road after arriving at Okayama Station, you will see one of Okayama’s popular check-in spots - the Momotaro Statue. The nearby Okayama Station Shopping Street also has a very iconic big peach decoration. There is a large shopping mall AEON MALL Okayama near Okayama Station, and there is also BIC CAMERA nearby. In contrast, the shopping street is relatively deserted.

It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk from the shopping street in front of Okayama Station to Okayama Castle. Along the way, you can see very distinctive manhole covers and trams, and the scenery is also quite nice.

As we had to arrive at the Washuyama Second Observatory before 5pm to watch the sunset (it was winter and it got dark very early), we didn’t have time to visit Okayama Castle. We could only take photos outside and then return to Okayama Station to take the JR to Kojima. There are several bus stops outside Kojima Station. I remember taking the "Shimoden Bus - Shimotsui Loop Line Tokohaei" at stop 6 and getting off at "Wusan Second Observatory" (the bus runs infrequently, with only one bus per hour, so be sure to pay attention to the schedule before departure). I got off the bus at around 5pm (reminding myself that I had to catch the last bus back to Kojima Station at 17:59), and reached the observatory after walking for a few minutes. In fact, the sun had already started to set, but the timing didn't allow for it. Fortunately, I still managed to make it.
