Kurume City, Fukuoka's hidden gem

I got on the train from Hakata Station in Fukuoka to Kurume City for 760 yen. If you ask me why I went to Kurume City, I would probably say, “It’s just because the name is pretty.” When I arrived in Kurume City, I was very surprised by the extremely hot weather. Kurume is famous for its tonkotsu ramen and clam broth-based ramen. Also, the town felt very quiet and peaceful. There were many students coming home from school, and the ramen shop I went to after talking to them was closed, so I went to another place, but… it wasn’t that good. It’s definitely not a place worth spending 1,520 yen round trip to eat. And this place is said to be where the headquarters of Bridgestone, Japan’s largest tire manufacturer, is located. Also, there are many hospitals hidden in the quietness of the city. It was a moment when I could catch a glimpse of a side of Japan that can be said to be a symbol of aging. Nevertheless, the sky was clear. It’s a city where you can feel the leisureliness unique to the people, and it’s a great place to relax.
