Asai Ichibon Sakura: A Majestic Century-Old Cherry Blossom Tree in Kurume, Fukuoka

Located in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the renowned century-old cherry blossom tree "Asai Ichibon Sakura" stands tall and proud. With an estimated age of 120 years, a height of approximately 18 meters, and a trunk circumference of 4.3 meters, this giant tree is truly awe-inspiring. When in full bloom, its flowers create a mesmerizing sight, harmoniously blending with the surrounding natural scenery. The reflection of the tree in the nearby pond adds to its breathtaking beauty.

The location of Ichibon Sakura is relatively remote. From Kurume Station on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line, you can take Nishitetsu Bus No. 25 and get off at Nakazumi. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk. Another cherry blossom viewing spot, "Kio Park," is also within a 20-minute walking distance. Situated near Mount Mino, this park features rare Kawazu cherry blossoms, along with Yoshino cherry blossoms, weeping cherry blossoms, camellias, and plum blossoms.
