The Ciping Revolutionary Sites are located at the foot of Dongshan Mountain in the heart of Jinggangshan City, Jiangxi Province, facing the picturesque Yuchi Lake. During the Jinggangshan struggle, this area served as the center of the military revolutionary base, hosting Party, government, and military agencies along the Hunan-Jiangxi border.
Mao Zedong's former residence within the Ciping Revolutionary Sites complex is where he and He Zizhen lived and worked together during the struggle in Jinggangshan. After Mao Zedong led the Autumn Harvest Uprising troops to Jinggangshan on October 27, 1927, he frequently resided in this rammed-earth house owned by Li Lichang in Cipingdianshang Village. Mao Zedong also convened numerous important Party, government, and military meetings in the main hall of this house to discuss and deploy various tasks related to base area construction.
On November 6, 1928, Mao Zedong presided over an enlarged meeting of the Hunan-Jiangxi Border Special Committee of the Communist Party of China here. According to the instructions of the Central Committee, the highest leading body of the party in the Jinggangshan base area - the Jinggangshan Front Committee - was reorganized.
Boasting a subtropical humid monsoon climate, the Ciping Revolutionary Sites stand tall beside Yucui Lake, a canopy of greenery and a mirror-like surface. It's a great place to visit in all seasons.
The Ciping Revolutionary Site Group includes Mao Zedong's former residence (including the former site of the Jinggangshan Front Committee of the Communist Party of China), the former headquarters of the Fourth Army of the Chinese Red Army, the former site of the Ordnance Department of the Fourth Army of the Chinese Red Army, the former site of the Officer Training Corps of the Fourth Army of the Chinese Red Army, the former site of the Public Sales Office of the Workers, Peasants and Soldiers Government of the Xinsui Border Special District, and the former site of the Hunan-Jiangxi Border Defense Committee.
