A classic tourist spot in Wakayama is the Hashiguiiwa.
Here, heading from Kushimoto to Oshima, there are over 40 rock pillars of various sizes standing in a row of about 850m in the sea.
It is said that the regular arrangement of the rocks resembles bridge piles, which is why it got its name!
This strange rock, which looks as if only the hard parts of the rocks remain due to sea erosion and only the bridge piles remain, has a legend that in the past, Kobo Daishi and Amanojaku made a bet that they would build a bridge in one night, and built it in one night👹!! ! ?
It is located in the Yoshino-Kumano National Park area and is designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument🏅
There is also a roadside station, so you can buy souvenirs while you're there!! ! ! 🫶✨️
