The Xiaoshanxia (Doujundong) Scenic Area is located on the west bank of the Zhaidi River in Zhongtun Township, Zhenxiong County, Zhaotong City, at the border between Yunnan and Guizhou. It is 20 kilometers south of the county seat and 500 meters from the main highways connecting Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou. The entire scenic area combines mountains, water, caves, and gorges. A boat trip along the Zhaidi River offers breathtaking views of the majestic, treacherous, and beautiful scenery of the "Xiaoshanxia" on both sides of the river, with winding paths leading to secluded areas, creating a sense of being immersed in the "Guilin landscape."
Hiding Army Cave has two entrances, one above and one below. Entering from the upper entrance, one finds several anonymous poems inscribed on the rock walls, evidently written by those fleeing war and escaping disaster. These poems range from melancholy and sorrow, to resentment and accusations of unrewarded kindness, to the desolation of families and the destruction of loved ones. There are also several self-deprecating, self-deprecating, and ironic pieces, such as: "Taking refuge in the mountain garden, who is as idle as I am? Long away from my hometown, I am more like an immortal than an immortal." Another example: "Though Heaven's will has departed, human effort can restore it. Self-reflection reveals no guilt, so why should I fear?" Walking along the right rock wall of the cave, one finds a parallel walkway, over a meter wide, several meters high, and domed with stalactites hanging from the ceiling.
The winding, deep Duojun Cave, with caves within caves and scenery within scenery, is a place of extraordinary beauty. Strange peaks and rocks complement each other, complementing and reflecting each other, creating a myriad of scenes. A subterranean river flows through the cave, its roar occasionally deafening. "The wind from the subterranean river is refreshing in June, and the sound of waves echoes through the quiet mountains"—a unique and captivating experience. A visit to the Jade Belt Palace truly evokes a sense of being transported to a celestial cave, a trance-like experience.
