Kii Peninsula Trip | Wakayama Kushimoto Underwater Park

On the fourth day of the trip to the Kii Peninsula, when traveling around Kushimoto Town in Wakayama Prefecture, there is one place that cannot be missed, that is Kushimoto Marine Park at the southernmost tip of Honshu, Japan.

This underwater park is a comprehensive park consisting of a water hotel, an underwater observation tower, and the underwater sightseeing ship Stella Maris.

Kushimoto Marine Park was designated in 1970 as one of the first marine parks (now marine parks) in Japan. There is a 24-meter-long underwater tunnel in the aquarium, where you can see blue sharks and rays swimming leisurely overhead. In addition, from the underwater observation tower 140 meters offshore, you can see the seabed at a depth of 6.3 meters, and take the underwater sightseeing boat Stella Maris to observe the world's northernmost cluster of table corals. The park also offers diving and swimming experiences, accommodation cabins, etc. It is a theme park that truly conveys the sea and creatures of Kushimoto.

You can enjoy everything from visiting an aquarium to observing the nature of the sea, as well as eating and shopping.
