The Japanese red-crowned crane is regarded as the god of wetlands and is worshipped by the local Ainu people, which is also the origin of the name of the Tsuruga Group.
The hotel's traditional hot springs offer 33 different bathing styles. The large public bath on the first floor is an open-air bath in the courtyard facing Lake Akan. From the 8th floor rooftop open-air bath, Tennyou-no-Yu, you can overlook the magnificent scenery of Lake Akan, the stage of the gods in the mythology of this land.
Guests staying here can enjoy a variety of delicious dishes made with fresh and mellow local ingredients from Hokkaido. The hotel's restaurants include a buffet-style Western restaurant and a traditional Japanese Kaiseki-style restaurant, which can provide you with a variety of dinner packages.
I chose buffet for breakfast and dinner. The biggest feature of Heya Hotel's buffet is the wide variety, which is also determined by the size of the hotel's rooms.
This is definitely a paradise for foodies. Among the hotels in Hokkaido, the most diverse dinner options are probably found here. Sashimi includes Hokkaido sweet shrimp, prawns, tiger prawns, salmon, tuna, sea bream, shad, cuttlefish, fish roe, scallops, etc.; hot dishes include capelin, tempura, eel, saury, steak, tempura, etc.
There are also various meats, snacks and desserts. It can be said that if you like Japanese food, this buffet dinner will definitely meet or exceed your expectations.
The variety is not a big deal; what’s important is the excellent quality. They mainly select seafood from the Sea of Okhotsk, the most representative of which is shrimp, which is large in size, has delicate texture and a sweet taste. Even the tempura shrimp has an impeccable taste.
However, the only drawback is its size. Dinner has to be booked in advance and there are too many guests. This is a bit lacking in my personal opinion, but if you only stay for one night, it is acceptable.
Because I was embarrassed to take pictures at the food counter, the pictures only show the food I chose, including breakfast. It can be said that it was only a few tenths of all the varieties.
