▽What's it like?
This castle was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu as a place to stay when he visited Kyoto. The announcement of the restoration of imperial rule to the Emperor was made at the Ninomaru Palace in this castle, a very famous and major event in Japanese history. It is also registered as a World Heritage Site, and many tourists from both Japan and abroad visit the castle.
▽Recommended points
In addition to touring the castle, we recommend that you take the time to look at the magnificent moat and gardens. The beautifully maintained gardens, which have remained unchanged since the Edo period, are lush with greenery and will purify your soul.
▽Access
A short walk from Nijo-jo-mae Station on the Tozai Subway Line
A 17-minute walk from Nijo Station on the IR Sagano Line
