1 day Kyoto travel plan, Arashiyama and Uji areas

Start from Kyoto Station

08.30 Take the train from [JR] Kyoto Station (JR Sagano Line for KAMEOKA) --> Go to Umahori Station

08.55-09.05 From Umahori Station --> Walk 550 meters to Torokko Kameoka Station

09.05 Arrive at Torokko Kameoka Station, Romantic Train (Ticket sales start at 8:50)

9:29-9:52 Romantic train (Sagano-kanko)

From Torokko Kameoka Station --> To Torokko Arashiyama Station

Get off the station and walk along the path to find a bamboo forest

9:55-10:20 Arashiyama Bamboo Groves 嵯峨野 竹林の道 Bamboo forest

10:30-11:15 Tenryu-ji Temple (Tenryu-ji Temple)

Walk 290 meters to Togetsu Bridge, Katsura River

11:25-11:40 Togetsukyo Bridge (Moon Crossing Bridge)

11:50-13:00 Walk, eat, Arashiyama area

13:15-13:35 Walk to the station SAGA-ARASHIYAMA

13.40-14.20 Take the train from SAGAARASHIYAMA Station (JR Sagano Line Rapid Service for KYOTO) --> Go to KYOTO Station --> and go to UJI Station (JR)

Arrived at Uji 宇治市 (a city famous for green tea)

14.25-14.40 From the train station, walk 650 meters to Byodo-in Temple

14.40-15.25 Byodo-in Temple (Close 17:30) One of Japan's important World Heritage Sites, which appears on the back of the 10 yen coin

If you visit in late April to early May, you may see Wisteria (called Fuji No Hana in Japanese) in purple bouquets. Hanging in a bunch in the Byodo-in Temple area, these Wisteria flowers are over 200 years old.

15.30-16.10 Byodoin Omotesando Shopping street From Byodo-in Temple back to Uji Station, there are restaurants, sweets, and various products for shopping.

After that, you can take the train back to Kyoto or go to Nara as well.
