Gion Hara Ryokaku

A friend in Kyoto told me about this place.

This is Hararyokaku, a shop famous for its black shichimi pepper.

They have a shop inside Kyoto Station, but the main shop is in Gion.

It goes well with anything, such as udon, yakisoba, and pasta, so I buy it every time I come to Kyoto.

The ingredients are the same as regular shichimi pepper, but
it is hand-kneaded so that the red of the chili pepper is hidden,
so the finished product is not the smooth red of regular shichimi pepper, but a moist, deep brown color.
