The official name is Rokuon-ji, and it is one of the sub-temples of Shokoku-ji. It is commonly known as Kinkaku-ji because of the famous Shariden 'Golden Pavilion'.
The temple's name is derived from the posthumous title 'Rokuon-in-den' of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the 3rd shogun of the Muromachi shogunate.
Admission Fees: Adults (high school students and above) 500 yen; Elementary and middle school students 300 yen
