Compared to the well-known cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido, Ine Funaya, Amanohashidate, and Kinosaki Onsen, located in the western Kanto region, are relatively unknown. They're so unpopular that they primarily attract Japanese families, and even if you hear Chinese spoken, it's likely Taiwanese tourists. This time, I finally had the opportunity to experience the charm of Kyoto by the sea, taking advantage of the 🎆 fireworks display.
📍Ine Funaya: Traditional fishermen's houses from the Edo Shogunate era, with the first floor for boats and the second for living, lined up along the bay, possess a unique charm. They offer a tranquil and tranquil atmosphere. The unique funaya guesthouses are also very popular. Since accommodations are typically per room, book at least three months in advance, otherwise you'll have to stay in Amanohashidate and be sure to catch the bus back home.
📍Amanohashidate: Famous for its oasis Egawa River, Kasamatsu Park boasts retro rides, and if you have time, you can even experience the cross-sea train. 📍Kinosaki Onsen: A popular hot spring resort in Japan. As night falls, exit the JR station.
A special forces tour of August in the Kansai countryside, with some urban highlights. Once again, caution is advised if you're planning to experience summer in Japan in July and August!
A six-day itinerary for Kyoto by the Sea is as follows:
Day 1: Hong Kong ✈️ Tokyo, Tokyo 🚄 Shinkansen to Kyoto (thanks to Typhoon Rann, the Tokaido Sanyo Shinkansen was severely delayed – the slowest Shinkansen ever!). Arrived in Kyoto at 1:30 AM.
Day 2: Kyoto 🚄 Amanohashidate 🚌 Ine Funaya
📍Ine Funaya: A traditional, tranquil fishing village complex in Kyoto by the Sea. These unique funaya guesthouses are incredibly popular. Since they typically operate per room, book at least three months in advance, otherwise you'll be stuck in Amanohashidate and need to be on time to catch the bus back. Day 3: Amanohashidate 🚄 Kinosaki Onsen
📍 Kinosaki Onsen: A traditional hot spring town where people of all ages stroll and bathe in colorful yukatas amidst the osmanthus trees.
Day 4: Kinosaki Onsen 🚄 Osaka 🚃 Ikeda
📍 Osaka Shinsaibashi: After five visits, I finally visited this popular tourist spot. The adorable yet exaggerated three-dimensional shop signs made for a yukata city walk in the summer heat.
📍 Inagawa Fireworks Festival: The highlight of the summer festival returns after five years, with over 4,000 fireworks creating a spectacular and dazzling fireworks display.
Day 5 Osaka 🚄 Kyoto 🚄 Uji
📍 Uji: The refreshing hometown of matcha (and also home to the green theme), its quiet streets are a delight to stroll. Besides matcha desserts, you can enjoy unique delicacies here: matcha curry, matcha soba, matcha dumplings, and more. Don't miss the Byodoin Temple (with its golden bird on a 10,000 yen price tag).
Day 6 Kyoto 🚃 Arashiyama Kyoto 🚄 Osaka Kansai ✈️ Hong Kong
📍 Arashiyama Bamboo Forest: A path through lush green, interwoven with soft, mottled bamboo. % Arabica, located near Togetsukyo Bridge, is the origin of this popular coffee.
