Kyoto: tip to avoid crowds

The Arashiyama area in northwest Kyoto is on everyone's travel guide books and itineraries so expect it to be packed. However, if you explore the areas outside the bamboo forest and the shopping street, it is a bit quieter and you can enjoy nature in peace. Don't miss the nearby Tenryu-ji temple and Ogura Pond which aren't as packed with people.

On the east side of Kyoto is the Kiyomizudera area. Again, expect this place to be rammed. If you go early in the morning or later in the afternoon, you may be able to enjoy the surrounding areas such as the Shirakawa Canal which opens up its izakayas at night.#kyoto #japan
