Daigoji Temple

Located in the southeast of Kyoto City,
It is a Shingon Buddhist temple built
in 874 by a monk named Shobo.
It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
in 1994.

Daikoji Temple is very large.
It can be divided into 2 main parts:

Shimo-Daigo is the lower area and
is the main area of ​​the temple that tourists visit.
It consists of the main areas:
Sanboin, which has a pavilion with a painting on the gate
and a beautiful Japanese garden.
Reihokan is a museum area that preserves documents
and historical items of the temple.
Garan is the part where important buildings are located
such as the main hall of the temple, the five-story pagoda, and the pagoda in the middle of the water.

Kami-Daigo is the upper area located on the mountain
and is the original area of ​​the temple. It takes about 1 hour to walk to the top.
