Located in the center of Kyoto City, Higashi Honganji Temple, officially known as the Shinshu Honjo Temple, is the head temple of the Otani school of the Jodo Shinshu sect and has a history of over 400 years. When I stepped into this magnificent temple, I was immediately attracted by its solemnity and tranquility.
The first thing that catches your eye is the huge Goei-do Hall, one of the largest wooden buildings in the world, covering an area of approximately 1,690 square meters. Standing in front of the Goei-do Hall, I felt the warmth and closeness brought by the wooden structure, and a sense of awe rose in my heart.
The garden in the temple is exquisitely designed, the stone paving is full of Zen, and it is surrounded by the blue sky, which makes people feel relaxed and happy. Especially in autumn, the ginkgo trees in Higashi Honganji Temple are golden and brilliant, contrasting with the ancient buildings to form a beautiful picture.
Walking in the temple, the quiet atmosphere makes people forget the hustle and bustle of the world and the soul gets unprecedented peace. This is not only a temple with a long history, but also a spiritual pure land for people to reflect and calm down.
All in all, Higashi Honganji Temple, with its magnificent architecture, profound historical heritage and peaceful environment, brings an unforgettable experience to every visitor. Whether you are a history lover or a traveler seeking spiritual peace, this place is worth your stop.
