About 30 minutes from JR Kyoto Station, get off at the "Wara Tenjin-mae" bus stop
A vermilion-painted torii gate next to Sakuraike Pond.
Hirano Shrine has 400 cherry trees of 60 different varieties
From here, the cherry trees look like they're overlapping, but unfortunately, only one is in bloom...😓
The overlapping torii gates on the right in the foreground also have early-blooming pink cherry blossoms...
Foreigners were coming here one after the other as well.
The most famous cherry tree seed planted at Hirano Shrine is the Sakigake Sakura.
It is an early-blooming cherry tree that blooms before other species,
and it is said that cherry blossom viewing in the capital begins when this cherry tree blooms.
It is in front of the gate, so everyone takes pictures of it.
Because there are many types of cherry trees, the best time to see the cherry blossoms is longer throughout the shrine.
It is so huge that you can't help but stare at it.
It is said that if you touch the sacred tree with your hand and walk around it counterclockwise, you will be granted the benefit of warding off evil.
Just before it is the Suehirogane (sacred stone).
It is one of the largest mochi-tetsu in Japan, a giant sacred stone made of magnetic iron ore weighing about 200 kg.
There is a magnet there, and it really sticks to things.
It has incredible power!
If you attach the "Amulet for Receiving" here, you will be granted the power of the sacred stone.
The grounds are known as a famous cherry blossom spot,
and various cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
There were a few cherry blossoms in front of the main hall.
It is popular for being called "night cherry blossoms in the plains."
