Shence Gate Park, also known as Heping Gate, is located east of the Central Gate in Xuanwu District, Nanjing and west of Nanjing Railway Station. It is the most complete gate of Nanjing's Ming City Wall and one of the thirteen inner city gates of Nanjing's Ming City Wall. It is also the only gate among all the city gates that retains the di tower built before the Republic of China.

Speaking of Nanjing's old city gates, there's a popular saying: " Thirteen inside, eighteen outside, and one with a bolt that sticks outward. " This gate, described as " bolted outward, " refers to Shen Ce Gate. Although a military fortress, Shen Ce Gate's remote location left it largely uninhabited. During the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods, it was largely closed and unused. In 1928 , the Nationalist government renamed De Sheng Gate " Heping Gate . "

Shen Ce Gate is relatively small, with the city gate inside and the barbican outside. The barbican gate is not directly opposite the city gate, but rather located in the northeast corner of the barbican. A jingle vividly summarizes its unique architectural form. Today, Shen Ce Gate is one of the most well-preserved city gates in Nanjing, with the barbican, archway, and three-bay hip-and-gable roof tower still intact.
